Dan
Pletscher, Director of UM's Wildlife Biology Program,
Receives The Wildlife Society's Appreciation Award
At the annual awards banquet of the Montana Chapter
of The Wildlife Society, CFC Professor Dan Pletscher
received the "Appreciation Award" -- given
rarely for extraordinary contributions to the wildlife
profession. He received a standing ovation and a limited
edition copy of Sand County Almanac that was printed
on paper from a tree Aldo Leopold planted himself.
Dave
Naugle, CFC Professor of Wildlife Ecology, Receives
Biologist of the Year Award
Using the newest GIS and remote sensing technologies,
Dave and his students quantify the importance of local
and landscape attributes influencing habitat use of
grassland and wetland birds in prairie and sagebrush
ecosystems. He continues to be a tireless advocate for
the protection of habitat for the sage grouse; hence,
the Montana Chapter of The Wildlife Society recognized
him "Biologist of the Year."
